SHELTERS & SEALS
Dock shelters and seals provide protection from the outside elements on loading bays by creating an effective seal between the vehicle and building. They protect the goods being loaded or unloaded and provide a barrier against insects and airborne pollutants.
Our expert team can advise on the best options available for your environment and operational requirements. Recommendations will be based on the vehicles using the bay, the type of goods being loaded/unloaded and the layout of the loading bay. Particular consideration is given to cold store environments where temperature control is essential.
Our most popular products for your sector are the foam pad seal and retractable dock shelter. These provide good all round protection from the outside elements keeping the workforce and goods protected.

Foam pad dock seals are the most cost effective way of sealing the rear of the vehicle to the loading bay.
The seal is created as the vehicle backs onto the pads, which compress until the vehicle makes contact with the bumpers. Each pad has air vents to allow the air to exhaust on compression.
To ensure the loading bay is sufficiently sealed the pads must be closely matched to the vehicle width and height. A mobile headed seal can be added to ensure compatibility of vehicles with a wider variety of heights.
Dock seals are manufactured from lightweight memory foam with excellent return and are bonded to either a 50mm treated timber backboard or a galvanised steel tray covered with a PVC type material. The pads have a neoprene front face and can include high visibility guide stripes.
A seal is created by the side and head curtains moulding around the top and side of a vehicle as it reverses into the loading bay to meet the dock bumpers.
In the event of a misaligned vehicle impacting the front of the shelter, the structure will retract, preventing any potential damage to the bay. Once the vehicle leaves the bay, the shelter will return to its original position.
The standard size is 3500mm wide x 3500mm high x 600mm projection, but can be made to suit varying vehicle heights. The standard head curtain size is 1200mm and the side curtains are 700mm, although this can be changed to suit. The roof of the shelter is sloped to allow any water to run off.
Retractable shelters are constructed from electro-plated box section, are covered in a PVC type material and made with cantilever arms. The curtains are made from heavy duty material with high visibility guide stripes to the side curtains.
